I hope this letter finds you well and jollier than most of us. I imagine the North Pole has been busy this the year, saving your otherwise-icy town from the effects of global warming and keeping an eye on children to know if they’ve naughty or nice. But … as it turns out, it’s the adults who needed to be kept an eye on.
I know it’s been a long time since I wrote you a letter, but after praying hard for little over a year, you’re my last hope. You see … I’m terrified of living in this world. Things were never perfect, but I’ll take the imperfection any day over the giant toilet it’s become. In only a short period of time, our collective values have shifted so much, it’s almost unbearable. From an obsession with ourselves, to a loss of kindness, respect and compassion for others, the world has become one shallow, egocentric, ruthless place. I miss the good ol’ days, and by that I mean less than year and a half ago.
You know, I’ve been a good
girl woman this year. So hopefully it won’t be too much to ask you for a Christmas gift? I promise, it’s just one.
I just want a break. A break from:
- Natural disasters
- Rising prices
- Self-serving politicians
- Arrogant bosses
- Oppressing governments
- War threats
- Double standards
- Increasing taxes
- The Kardashians
A break is a good start―bonus points if you can turn it into something permanent.
Now, just for the record, I don’t have any ill-feelings for the Kardashians, but Santa, we could all use a little break from them. It’s long due.
Christmas Day is just a few days away. If that’s not enough time for you to work your magic, then maybe before New Years?
PS – I still believe. 🙂
